It delights me to pen a
few words for Prof. Dr. Rao’s path breaking synoptic, direct presentation of mind. Lord Krishna
aphorized ages ago in Bhagwad Gita, namely, YOUR MIND is the best friend you can have, or the worst enemy you could ever.
Like a karate punch , Dr. Rao has been precise and hard hitting.
Adi Shankara had given
an excellent metaphor for the human mind. You could, Shankara said, empty the entire Pacific Ocean bucket by bucket but you cannot control the flow of thoughts in your mind.
So, the human mind, the distinguishing feature of the so-called Homo Sapiens or the wise one, has been a despair not only
of individual souls, saints, sinners and psychiatrists but in the third millennium, we are nowhere near defining it or understanding
it. So Dr. Rao brings a gestalt summing up and the precise ways & means to help yourself to learn to live.
The concluding section
where he almost justifies the existence of Neurosis, Psychosis and Schizophrenia is an intellectual achievement. His faith
in the wisdom of nature remains unshakeable. This work is a rapid reader in understanding oneself and will help in arriving
at some lasting peace in one’s life.
