SATORI & NIRVANA
Nirvana is said to be achieved when man gets free
from all bindings in this world. Then he can truly experience.
Let me give you an example. We pass by the same
road to office many times, but never seem to notice the birds chirp, the brilliant blue of the sky, the magic of the sunlight
filtering through the trees, the sheer ecstasy of being alive. At times suddenly for no reason at all, one moment makes us
realize how beautiful the earth is, how lovely the people around are and how lucky we are to be alive. That exhilarating experience
is what we all have experienced some time or the other, called as “satori” in Zen. Or temporary Nirvana (liberation).
Total liberation occurs rarely and only to some
individuals who on basis of correct thoughts, behavior and ideology seem to be constantly in a state of bliss, however bad
their circumstances may be.
