QUANTIFYING THREATS
The Human Involuntary Nervous system body has two cycles – The Sympathetic Nervous
system and Para-Sympathetic Nervous system.
The Sympathetic nervous system acts by releasing
adrenaline which raises the Heart rate, Blood pressure, Respiratory Rate, Muscle
tension and bombards the brain with Ideas.
All this is in the interest of survival and is called THREAT RESPONSE. This response
is meant for survival in life threatening situations like when a lower animal is preyed upon by a larger animal.
But we humans now identify all daily situations like an altercation with the boss as
life threatening. And throw a Sympathetic response by releasing adrenaline and get stressed.
The Parasympathetic system acts by releasing Acetyl Choline which slows down the Heart
rate, Blood pressure, Respiratory Rate, Muscle tension and reduces brain of its cluttered thoughts. This response is seen
during Sleep, Relaxation and Meditation and is called RELAXATION RESPONSE.
It is entirely in the hands of our psyche which response to throw by sensory modulation.
We have to learn to throw an appropriate response to any situation rather than by identifying the Boss as the Tiger!
Therefore we have to find a method of analysis of threat and outline an appropriate
response. Given below is one such Analysis- Response method.
A) RATE THREAT BY
INTENSITY OF CONSEQUENCE
B) RATE THREAT BY
TIME OF OCCURRENCE
C) MULTIPLY A) BY
B) AND GRADE IT ON CHART
D) GIVE APPROPRIATE
REACTION ACCORDING TO CHART
A)
INTENSITY of CONSEQUENCE
·
Loss of Life of Self or Dear One (Death) -10
·
Loss of Health (Bodily Harm -injury, accident, disease) -8

·
Loss Assets, Property, Money and Relation (loss of capital assets, salary or death of near one or divorce) -4
